The Clifton music department aims to introduce children to the fundamental elements of music (rhythm, harmony and melody), through a fun and age appropriate curriculum, developed by us specifically for the needs of the school and children. Our goal is to prepare the children to reap the rewards of the musical opportunities they will be exposed to at High School level and on into adult life. They will first be taught through basic percussion instruments, then the recorder, and in the Senior Primary, they will learn to use the marimbas and drums. The children will all have music theory work books. These books teach the theory of music, through a fun, child friendly method. The school offers individual lessons in piano, flute, saxophone, recorder, singing, drumming, clarinet, guitar, cello, and choirs, marimba bands, drumming bands and a school band.
